3009 Computer Use in Study Rooms A goal of the library is to serve as an information and resource center for the public. An important aspect of this goal then is the provision of computers with up to date office software, in quiet places where people are free to work uninterrupted on reports, resumes, papers or letters etc. The library is providing computers in two of the study rooms located in the adult fiction area with Office XP Pro software. Both computers will be networked to the circulation desk printer. Copies are .25 cents a page. To use either of these computers, a person must sign in and out at the circulation desk before each use. The study rooms are kept locked when not in use. Food and beverages are not allowed in the study rooms. Staff will check the study rooms after each use and report any damage to the computers or the room to the library director. Users will be limited to a 3- hour time slot each day, with the time being extended if no one is waiting for the room. In the event both rooms are occupied, people may use the Internet work stations which will also be equipped with the same office software. However, when using the Internet computers, people will have to abide by the specific policy for those computers. Use will be limited to a half-hour time slot with one-half-hour renewal, per person per day, provided no one is waiting for a computer. |
